Uncheck the RAW photos box to prevent the app from uploading RAW format photo files. RAW photos may be significantly larger than traditional jpeg or heic format files, which can have both storage and bandwidth usage implications. Two other photo-related options let you choose whether or not to upload screenshots or RAW photos to Google Photos ( Figure C). Just like the Google Photos apps on iOS and Android, you can choose to upload photos either in original quality or in a compressed version, labeled as “storage saver” mode. Google Drive for desktop also can backup photos from your device to Google Photos. For example, if there’s a particular folder that contains items you always want available, you may select it and then right-click (on Windows) or control-click (on macOS), then adjust the offline access to make it available offline.įigure B In the Google Drive for desktop app, you may choose either to Stream or Mirror files between Google Drive and your local storage. Importantly, even if you select the stream option, you may manually select folders and files to sync. This option means you may use a computer with very little local storage and instead rely on Google Drive basically as a remote cloud drive. When you choose to stream, the Drive for desktop app still shows you everything stored on Google Drive, but only downloads items as needed. If you have a reliable internet connection, I recommend most people choose the stream setting. Bad news: You may need to monitor your storage. Good news: That means you’ll have access to all of your mirrored files–even when you’re offline. If you choose the Mirror option, the system syncs your Google Drive storage with your system. Choose to mirror files only when you are certain you have enough local storage space for a local copy of everything you have on your Google Drive. With Drive for desktop, you may choose either to Stream or Mirror files from Drive to your device ( Figure B). The Drive for desktop app obviates all of that: Just navigate with the standard file system controls to work with Google Drive files.įigure A The Google Drive for desktop app lets you access files and folders on Drive from your local file system, as shown here in the Windows 10 File Explorer (upper left image) and macOS Finder (lower right image). Or, conversely, go through similar steps and then select a file to upload it. Without the Drive for desktop app, you would have had to open a browser, go to, select a file, then download it to your device. That means you may open and save items from Drive much as you would other files on your system. The Drive for desktop app lets you browse Drive folders and files, just as you browse files and folders stored on your device’s local storage ( Figure A). You’ll have local file system access to Google Drive. SEE: Electronic communication policy (TechRepublic Premium) 1. If you can’t access the Drive for desktop app with an organizational account, ask your Workspace administrator to review settings in the Admin console | Apps | Google Workspace | Drive and Docs | Google Drive for desktop.) ( Note: Keep in mind that a Google Workspace administrator may control organizational access to Drive for desktop. The following sections cover key points of each of these features. Fourth, you may now sign in to as many as four different Google accounts at once, which gives you access to files and distinct configuration options for each account. Third, Drive for desktop also offers the ability to backup photos (including screenshots and RAW photos) to Google Photos. Second, it allows you to select and sync files and folders between your device and Google Drive. First, it lets you access Google Drive from your local system (i.e., either Apple’s Finder on macOS or Microsoft’s File Explorer on Windows) without the need to open a web browser. Once installed, the Google Drive for Desktop app delivers four key features for people who use Windows or macOS devices. TIOBE Index: Top 10 Most Popular Programming Languages Top Tech Conferences & Events to Add to Your Calendar On Windows, the app appears in the system tray (lower right corner), while on macOS, the app displays in the menu bar (top of the screen). The app may be added to a system either by an individual or deployed by an administrator to organization-managed devices. The app handles tasks previously offered in two separate apps, the Google Drive File Stream app and the Backup and Sync app. The Google Drive for Desktop app gives people who use Windows or macOS devices streamlined access to Google Drive folders and files. Andy Wolber thinks that Google Drive for Desktop is a must-install app for people who use Google Workspace with Windows or macOS systems.

I cannot get them to drag and drop into Silhouette as I usually can." "I re-downloaded the files for the Father’s Day box cards. I'm not sure what has changed. I just updated Silhouette Studio BE to version 4.1.468. In short, your files are usable, but the way these new ones are opening, off the mat in the middle of a giant grid, is strange." I can drag the files up onto the mat, which appears as a tiny red square in the upper left corner of the grid, and then resize the page to "Automatic Cameo" to get the normal 12x12 mat view back, and the appropriately-sized pieces into view. The proportions of the pieces are correct, they're just lost in a giant grid that appears as thousands of tiny squares on my screen. This is happening with the other files from that order as well, including the Geo Lantern and the Mega Butterfly. I tried opening a few other files I've purchased from you in the past, and they either seem to open on the large grid or they open on a very zoomed-in grid, where the visible width is approximately 1x1 or 2x2. "I purchased several files last week, and opened one for the first time today, to make the Ice Cream Come Box Card for my brother-in-law's birthday. When I click on the file to open it in Silhouette Studio BE, it opens in the middle of a grid that is approximately 155x175 inches square. Please let me know how I can correct this." I have never had this problem with your files. "When I try to open these files in Silhouette Cameo it changes my mat size to Custom 70.997 x 142.439. Do you know how to fix this? Is there something in the settings I need to change?" But when I import your files the mat is huge! I have to change to cameo, zoom way out to file the images that are normal size. "Not sure if this is an new issue with your files or silhouette design software. Here are some of the questions I've been getting that are related to this, which I will paste here in case they're helpful in recognizing this issue: (See the bottom of this post for an updated list of affected/updated SVG Kits.) Thanks for your help!! Frequently-Asked User Questions Regarding this Issue And if you wouldn't mind letting me know (via our Contact Us form) which project it's happening for you on, I'll update them as I can and send you the updated version. In a nutshell, if this is happening for you, please zoom out to see your shape. If I import wings_bottom.svg again, but with my SVG Import settings set to "Open - As-is," the shape shows up a little closer to my on-screen mat: ? Some shapes are showing up on the on-screen mat area MUCH farther away than that. Until I figure out a good fix, I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. Then, I can select the shape and move it onto my mat: If I open wings_bottom.svg in SSDE v4.1.479 (with my SVG Import settings set to Open "Centered"), it looks like this: However, one example of the problem happening is with the Mega Butterfly SVG Kit. It seems that it doesn't really matter whether the drop-down menu under SVG is set to "As-is" or "Centered." It shows up "normally," whether my SVG Import settings are set to Open "Centered" or Open "As-is." (To see your SVG Import settings, go to Edit -> Preferences -> Import tab -> Use the drop-down menu next to "Open" under "SVG.") This SVG file, like many others, appears as-expected. For example, if I open tree1a.svg from the Advent Calendar Trees SVG Kit in SSDE v4.1.479, it looks like this: This is not happening with all of our SVG files. This has never mattered until now for any cutting machine software that I'm aware of, however it is now affecting the 4.1 versions of SSDE and SSBE, etc. However, if you're using version 4.1, something has changed on Silhouette's end, and some of our files are opening with a lot of empty space around them, causing them to be displayed very far away from the on-screen mat.īasically, the reason is because some of our files were saved with empty space around them in the program they were created in. If you're using version 4.0, SVG files from SVGCuts will open as-expected and display on your "normally-sized" on-screen mat in a "normal" location. If you're using version 4.0, when you check for updates within the software by going to "Help" in the Menu Bar and then "Check For Updates," you'll see a message saying, "No updates are currently available." It seems that sometimes the latest version can instead be found on Silhouette's website at. (If you're using version 4.0.623ssde, for example, you won't have this problem.) You can find out what version yours is by going to "Silhouette Studio" in the Menu Bar, and then "About Silhouette Studio." Version 4.0 does not appear to be affected. If you're using the upgraded Silhouette Studio software, such as Designer Edition (SSDE) or Business Edition (SSBE), there's a new problem surfacing in Version 4.1 with some SVG files from SVGCuts. It's really not that hard (that's what she said). Just open the fonts popup and scroll until you find something that resembles a pretentiously calligraphic handwriting: But honestly it's just really easy to find Cursive fonts in Figma. I'm just kidding, there's no more another one. The font was designed by Robert Leuschke, and he also designed more Cursive fonts which I haven't honestly checked if they're all available in Figma but maybe you can do it: Allura, Playball, Alex Brush, Italianno, Arizonia.Īctually never mind, we'll just go trough all of them. If you don't like them, that's fine - not everyone was born with good taste. Now this is going to be a highly subjective list, so take it with a grain of salt but I'll try to come up with some fonts that I personally like. In this short post we'll go trough the most popular Cursive font families and hopefully you'll find them useful.īut before we start let's address the puffy elephant in the room and explain that most of the fonts used in Figma are from the Google Fonts Library so you can visit the website, toggle the font style you're after and find as many Cursive font families as you want: You can look up how the name of the font is spelled in the CSS in the fonts menu.A Cursive font, or how the pretentious people like to call it "Script Typeface" is a font inspired by physical cursive handwriting (like caligraphic) and it's been around since forever (like 300 years, when they invented writing - probably, I don't know).Īnd obviously there's plenty of Cursive fonts in Figma. Add the following CSS snippet and call your handwriting font there. All we have to do is use a script font somewhere on the site. For example, there are three types of buttons and each button can have its own font. To do that, go to Design → Fonts → Assign Fonts → Site Title.Īlternatively, you can assign a script font to one of the elements you are not using on the site. If you are using a logo as an image, you can assign handwriting font to the site header title. We can use one of the fonts available in the Squarespace library. This method allows us to add font without having to upload a WOFF font file to Squarespace. Let’s add a handwriting font to one of the elements on your website. It’s a great way to spice things up on your website! Use it as an accent to add embellishments here and there. Here’s how to add a slightly tilted script font to your Squarespace website. How to add a tilted accent script font to your website If you follow this rule, you'll end up with the perfect mix of classy and creative. If it's being used to convey a message, make sure the font still allows your message to be read clearly. It's also worth considering the context in which you're using the font. It's also important to make sure the text size is large enough to be legible. Stick to one font, and use it only for select pieces of text. Only use them when it adds something special to your design, and keep the rest of your typography clean and easy to read, as too much handwriting can quickly become overwhelming. For example, you can use handwriting fonts to emphasize important words in a headline or to add an extra sprinkling to a logo.īut remember: less is more when it comes to handwriting fonts. However, when used in the right way, they can be a great way to add a personalized touch to your work. Handwriting fonts are often difficult to read and can easily take away from the overall design. Squarespace has many beautiful handwriting fonts in the library, so it’s easier to get carried away! If you liked one of the fonts from our collection, here is a tip: use it sparingly to add little touches and embellishments. The golden rule of gorgeous typography: Use handwriting fonts sparingly Skipjack are the smallest of the major tuna species, while yellowfin are larger. Skipjack and yellowfin are the main tuna species listed as ingredients in canned tuna in brands sold at Australian supermarkets. So this concern has largely been associated with the use of tuna species such as albacore and larger tuna specimens. Mercury concentrations are higher in predatory fish such as tuna and generally increase with age and size. Over the years, some scientists have raised concerns about high concentrations of mercury in canned tuna. Shutterstock Tuna in Australian cupboards is likely smaller species Tinned tuna is cheap, tasty and nutritious. But to make matters worse, a substantial proportion of mercury in fish is present as methylmercury – a potent neurotoxin formed by bacteria in waters and sediments.Īlthough mercury pollution has increased since industrialisation, accumulation of methylmercury in animals is a completely natural phenomenon.Įven fish caught from the middle of the ocean, far from any polluting sources, will contain methylmercury. Most forms of mercury are potentially very toxic to humans. So the bigger the fish, the higher the likely mercury content. In other words, it builds up as smaller fish get eaten by middle-sized fish, which get eaten by large fish, which get eaten by us. Mercury is naturally present in our environment but can biomagnify to relatively high concentrations in fish – particularly predatory fish. That’s a level even the most keen tuna-lover would be hard pressed to consume.Īustralia’s gold industry stamped out mercury pollution - now it's coal's turn Lab tests we did for the ABC TV science program Catalyst in 2015 suggest – depending on your body weight and the exact brand of tuna you buy – you could eat anywhere between 25 and 35 small tins (95g each) of tuna a week before you hit maximum mercury limits. It is safe for everyone (including pregnant women) to consume canned tuna as part of their fish intake.Ĭanned tuna generally has lower levels of mercury than tuna fillets because smaller tuna species are used and the tuna are generally younger when caught. Sounds good, but how much can you eat before you need to worry about mercury?Īccording to Food Standards Australia New Zealand: A tin of tuna is significantly cheaper than many types of fresh meat or fish. For as little as A$1 a tin, canned tuna is an excellent, affordable source of protein, polyunsaturated fats and other nutrients. © 2024 Hookshot Media, partner of ReedPop. 2 is the gripping sequel to the action game based on the worldwide hit anime series, Attack on Titan.
